In my opinion the „Polish Perspectives“, a group show by un-posed members, was a real highlight of this year’s London Street Photography Festival. It presented work from the streets of London by three Polish photographers who have lived and worked in the city in several decades. There’s a video on youtube about it.
The DZ Bank Kunstsammlung is running a huge Street Photography exhibition called “Road Atlas” which is wandering through several German cities. It is currently at Rüsselsheim and will be shown also in Cottbus, Erfurt and Frankfurt during 2012 and 2013. Next to some photographers like Stefanie Schneider or Gregory Crewson whose work I would definitely not consider as Street Photography there is a very broad range of styles and artists like Nobuyoshi Araki, René Burri, Arno Fischer, Helen Levitt, Pieter Hugo, Arnold Odermatt, Will McBride, Stephen Shore, Barbara Klemm, Andreas Rost etc.

They also made a fine hardcover catalogue in German and English that contains 166 photographs from the last 70 years taken by 26 photographers.

Currently at FENSTER61: The Londoner DS Allen with six photographs from his recent black/white series Night Shift. It’s his second exhibition at FENSTER61 after Berlin – Grenze which was shown in 2006.
A few years ago I attended a workshop by Thomas Hoepker at Neue Schule für Fotografie in Berlin. I found it very interesting to hear the former Magnum president talk about the challenges of photo journalism today, about Magnum, and about his own career. He also had some inspiring words about my own portfolio so it was quite a rewarding weekend for me.
Here is a new interview in the Times light box about his latest photobook about the GDR (“DDR Ansichten” /German Tilte, “Views of a Vanished Country”/American Title).
I’m not a fan of dogs in general but sometimes they just work awesome as a photographic motive. There’s a funny series called Shake by Carli Davidson featured on lenscratch today.
There’s another publication of Thomas Lobenwein’s photo series “Wrestlers” in the German weekly newspaper Der Freitag. This one is not only about the pictures but also about the story how it was realized.
